"Having someone who understood what I was going through, who was very empathetic and patient, but also who knew when it was time to 'get tougher' with me"
I was a Yo-yo dieter but I never got to the bottom of the original cause of weight gain. I had also tried some CBT in the past, but haven't been very successful with it. I've enjoyed the hypnotherapy because I needed someone else to 'hold my hand' during the process and also actual hypnosis was very relaxing and comforting for me. I looked forward to it every week, as well as the listening to the recordings during the week!
If you are hesitant just go for it but remember that it takes time because you are re-learning years and years of wrong internal messages/cues/behaviours. Be patient. It all makes sense in the end!
I think Tansy has got her sessions just right. It is really nice being in a home environment rather than a clinical one. Having someone who understood what I was going through, who was very empathetic and patient, but also who knew when it was time to 'get tougher' with me and then hand over the reins to me to go forward myself.
