Hello, my name is Tansy Forrest and I am a clinical hypnotherapist working in South London between Balham and Clapham.
Hypnotherapy is a safe and effective method of treating a variety of problems you may be having. All my therapy methods are centred around hypnotherapy & neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and I tailor all my sessions to my client's specific problem.

A great many people suffer from anxiety, unhelpful thinking about their future and worry an unusual amount. In the UK, mixed anxiety & depression is the most common mental disorder, with 7.8% of people meeting this criteria for diagnosis. Most therapists and medical practitioners put those who suffer panic attacks and anxiety into the same box and treat them in the same way.
Through my own journey and experiences, I take an individualised and caring approach to helping clients overcome anxiety, panic attacks and stress. I am passionate about getting you to a place of confidence so you can learn how to live in the now instead of worrying what the future will hold. A recent study in the US found that 1 in 7 of people had serious alcohol problems or "alcohol-use disorder". Attitudes towards alcohol have changed and binge drinking is becoming more common and accepted in our western culture. For many people, stopping drinking is a very tall order and they don’t necessarily want to stop drinking or be teetotal, but also they don’t know how to cut back.
I specialise in helping men and women who have struggled with their over consumption of alcohol to learn how to drink less. Through my own experiences and client interactions I have formulated a clear action plan to get you back on track and on with your life and feeling great!

London like New York, really is a 24 hour city which makes it very hard for the average Londoner to switch off and get a good nights sleep. Did you know as many as 16 million UK adults are suffering from sleepless nights and a third (31%) say they have insomnia. Lack to sleep can have adverse effects on your health and can lead to a lack of concentration, a decrease in motivation and a reduction in your tolerance to stress.
I can help treat your insomnia and get to the root cause of what is keeping you awake at night. I use a combination of hypnotherapy using visualisation methods within a tailored plan to help you get into a calm and relaxed state when you are setting off to bed. I have had counselling in the past that address issues through talking therapies that uncover childhood issues but this takes sometime to do so along with the drama. Hypnotherapy gets to the point of an issue at the beginning of the first sessions, addressing a single issue through practical visualizing and offers a robust action plan at the end that gives options to try out exercises to aid sleep which i found useful.
I ignored the problem, convinced myself that it wasn’t serious and this is how I am. Hypnotherapy I felt was much structured I had a specific issue I wanted to tackle and left with measurable tasks that I had to do each week.
Tansy is brilliant. Her voice is magical and very soothing. She makes sure you are left empowered with clear objectives and realistic achievable, measurable tasks you say you can accomplish. The focus always comes back to how you can implement the things you want to change.
I’m on a definite path to healthy eating and I was able to discover that my resistance and reluctance stemmed from the awful school dinners I was subjected to as a child! I had no idea! I use to always think that culturally we just didn’t have enough vegetables in our cooking, which of course isn’t the case.
Alcohol has always been a part of my social life , not to an alcoholic or damaging level but a glass or two most nights several more at dinner parties , stressful days , work events , social functions etc. Have been last man standing at most parties for as far back as I can remember. I have given alcohol up many times over the years mainly with a dry January or a post holiday month off even, but when I went back to drinking always seemed to overdo it again. I never managed the magical moderate drinking.
I procrastinated about booking a consultation with Tansy from about January did another dry month and went back to normal drinking. In March I finally booked a telephone consultation with Tansy and by the end of the call was convinced this was the way to go and am absolutely delighted with the results.
Working with Tansy has been really enjoyable , I was ready to make a change and really wanted a more moderate approach to drinking and from the outset Tansy’s approach has given me huge confidence in the process and has delivered truly amazing results. I always leave a session feeling so happy and relaxed, with a real sense of calm that stays with me.
The results from working with Tansy have been amazing, I am really enjoying the non drinking days as well as still having drinking days too but now I find that I am not rushing a glass I’m naturally drinking slower and savouring the flavour. I am more than happy to leave a drink if I’ve had enough and am really confident when I’ve decided to finish drinking for the evening. I chose to reduce my intake to 14 units a week, which seemed like it was going to be impossible from around 80-90 previously. Working with Tansy I have genuinely found the change easy and I feel great, lost weight without trying. I’ve had several events in the month including my wedding anniversary had a great bottle of wine and still stayed within my target. Tansy has also really helped motivate me back into a fitness regime. The surprise bonus has been how less stressed I feel now, I genuinely thought that having a glass of wine after work was the way to unwind at the end of a day and it’s not a glass I even think about now.
I came to Tansy with an issue about self confidence that was dictating my life to a point where I couldn’t even see myself being able to enter adult life properly. Tansy opened my eyes to so much knowledge about myself and about the harmful way I was thinking that after the first session I almost laughed to myself at how subjective my whole problem really was. I genuinely now see negative thoughts I have as they truly, objectively are: thoughts.
By the end of our sessions it was as if a dark filter had been lifted off of my life and allowed me to finally stop believing and getting sucked in by these negative thoughts about my appearance and begin a new chapter of my life. Tansy I honestly can’t thank you enough for how much you have done and how much our work over the sessions will continue to do for me as a person and I also hope that these words do your service even the slightest bit of justice because it would be impossible to fully replicate just how much this has done for me.
"I had no real plan for tackling over drinking. If you have the motivation and desire deep inside, hypnotherapy can tap into that. You can’t be hypnotised or helped unless you want to be. I’d only read a few self help books to help with my drinking, but hypnotherapy is something that can be done regularly and definitely helps me. I tried to self manage from time to time but really needed a boost and support. Although it’s early days, I find that Tansy has given me motivational tools to set me on my way.
Hypnotherapy is individual but it taps into an inner desire to tackle a problem if you really are fed up with that habit or behaviour. You can’t be hypnotised if you don’t want to and can come out of it whenever you want. I had counselling many years ago for another issue but found it too prolonged and retrospective. Hypnotherapy with Tansy is forward thinking and doesn’t ponder on what went wrong in the past but what you can aim for in the future.
I Immediately liked Tansy - her warmth, genuine interest and empathy. Our sessions were relaxed and I felt very trusting as she was not prescriptive in her methods. She made me feel extremely comfortable and because she draws on her own experiences, as well as her training and research, this allowed me to be more candid with her and together work out the best strategies for me. She is also realistic about the process.
Before hypnotherapy I tried medication and seeing Doctors as well as self-care but this was virtually ineffective.
I had also tried CBT but it was a short-term solution only and is forgotten in the long-term. With hypnotherapy it is long-term and the sessions are recorded so you can top up yourself - It is brilliant in comparison. If people are unsure about hypnotherapy, I would tell them it is 80-90% effective and for them to overcome any stereo-types about hypnotherapy. It is a different type of therapy but is very useful and helpful. My condition was not amenable to treatment but this cured me.
I feel comfortable and have confidence in Tansy's abilities. She is excellent and knowledgeable.
Hypnotherapy is effective but more importantly the therapy works.
Tansy made me feel very safe and cared for, she taught me relaxation techniques and now I am more able to manage my stress & joint pain.
I had been struggling with joint pain and feeling stressed, Hypnotherapy is a very helpful method for managing stress and reducing pain.
I wanted to cut down on binge drinking as i was never able to stop once I had started. I seemed to drink more than everyone else, be the most drunk and end up with 2 day hangovers. To manage this I would avoid going out as couldn’t trust myself just to have a couple. But most of the time I would go out anyway and ride out the hangover and endure the anxiety that would follow.
Just after the first session of hypnotherapy I felt so much more in control on a night out. My drinking slowed down and I was very conscious about my limits and not crossing the point of no return. I have my Sunday’s back now. I would never plan anything on a Sunday as knew I would normally be in no fit state to do anything.
I felt very relaxed and Tansy really understood my issues and suited my sessions accordingly.
I got a job before I had even finished my 3 sessions!
I have tried counselling, CBT and another hypnotherapist. Hypnotherapy, in my experience hits the spot more directly without the need to go over one's past, I would suggest it is absolutely worth a try.
It depends a lot on the practitioner - As with all such services it is important to feel some sort of connection to the practitioner. Even though Tansy was just launching her career as a hypnotist her aura of calm was very real. I felt very comfortable and relaxed, Tansy has a very calming and comforting energy.

I offer a FREE phone consultation for all new and prospective clients. This allows me to better understand the reasons you are seeking therapy, some background to the problem and how it is currently affecting you. The initial call also allows you to ask any questions you might have about hypnotherapy and decide if you believe I would be a suitable therapist to deal with your problem.
Even after the first session you will see how my caring, effective and results orientated approach will begin to make a positive change in the way you think about your problem. We will then build on this change and set a solid foundation of skills & tools in future sessions. My clients typically book between 4-8 sessions of therapy with me depending on their problem & support required.
Its all up to you now! Except you will be armed with the skills and techniques I have taught you in our sessions, along with a new mindset that will enable you to tackle any problem the world throws at you. Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state, similar to day dreaming and is induced when you are in a relaxed state, both physically and mentally. When in hypnosis the subconscious mind is unlocked, awoken and can communicate with the conscious mind, which is "switched off".
Our subconscious mind is the more instinctive part of the brain than our conscious mind and this is the part that we are need to change or enhance in order to alter our own habits and behaviours.
Progress is made by gradually re-programming the subconscious mind so that deep-seated instincts and beliefs are challenged, removed, exchanged or even re-routed to something more healthier for the mind.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP, is a connection between your brain (neuro), language (linguistic) and behavioral patterns learned through experience (programming).
When all three elements are enhanced through tools and techniques, this allows for rapid and mind altering change to meet a specific goal. One of the main benefits to NLP is that it changes the way we use our brain and allows us to understand why we might have a particular phobia such as spiders, we can't remove all the spiders in the world but we can change a persons perception of the spider.
